For A604 automatic transmissions. Friction discs wear as a normal part of service, and once the material is down the pack cannot hold the torque the unit was built for.
42RLE FrictionModule. This set replaces the wear surface that decides whether the pack holds or slips.
The facing holds up to repeated apply cycles without separating, which is the failure mode that sends a rebuild back apart. The material is rated above the stock specification for the heat generated in towing and stop and go duty. Shipping weight is 2 lb.
The parts list below is exactly what ships. Compare it against your teardown before ordering.
REMCO has supplied automatic transmission parts since 1991, and every order ships with its part listing so the receiving technician can check what arrived against what was ordered.
- Cut rebuild time by having all three clutch friction sets in one box, eliminating separate orders and delays on the bench.
- NO steel plates, no Automatic Transmission Filter, no seals, no band: this kit covers friction discs only. Verify your parts list before ordering to avoid returns.
- All 19 frictions are hi-energy material across all three clutch packs, matching the exact specs of the 42RLE and A604 units this kit targets.
- Contains: 10 A604 overdrive clutch frictions (.071 2nd design), 5 A604 low reverse clutch frictions (.072), 4 A606 2-4 clutch frictions (.086). Total weight: 2 lb.
- Before ordering, confirm your unit code (42RLE or A604), model year falls within [90-ON], and that you need friction discs only, not a broader rebuild set.
