Bonded pistons fail at the bond line, and the failure is invisible on the bench.

4L80E drum forward clutch w ring gear (uses bonded piston). The sealing surface is produced to the bore it wipes.

Cracks appear at the bond line and do not show on the bench. The pistons are bonded rather than lip sealed. Shipping weight is 8 lb.
